The wheel driven tennis ball launcher

Using a tennis ball launcher might be the most efficient way to practice your form and your consistency. A good tennis ball launcher will be able to sling balls for you to hit at up to a rate of 1 ball per second. This will surely give you a great workout and help you tremendously if you are a beginner looking to refine your swing and consistency.

There are two main types of tennis ball launchers on the market today. There is the pneumatic tennis ball launcher and the double wheel driven tennis ball launcher. The one preferred by most is the wheel driven ball launcher. This is because of two reasons. First, pneumatic ball machines use a vacuum to launch their balls and this uses a great deal of electricity making it hard to use it portably. The second reason is because of their loud noise and lack of performance compared to wheel driven tennis ball launchers.

Lets take a little look at the technology behind the wheel driven tennis ball launcher. The balls are thrown by squeezing it between two wheels which spin in opposite directions. The wheels drive the ball out with the pressure from spinning. It can be compared to dirt being pushed out when a car wheel spins at rapid speeds. The only difference would be that there is also a rotating wheel on the bottom to create different spins on the ball and provide different types of shots to return. To create a top spin, the top wheel would spin faster than the bottom wheel. For a backspin ball, you would do the opposite. Flat shots are created by spinning the wheels are the same speed.
